Here at Ghost Central, we get a lot of questions about ghost hunting, and how to go about it. It's
not as easy as it may seem. It takes a lot of patience, dedication and also money for equipment. For these reasons, it is not for everybody. We would never recommend it as a full time
job because you will never make enough money to live on. Some people believe
that no education is necessary to become a paranormal investigator. This is not
true and is also dangerous. Below is a brief outline of what we do.
Spirit Contact Through Ghost Hunting.
The goal of a ghost hunter is to show proof or make contact with a deceased
spirit. This is done in several different ways. The first is proving the
spirit is there in the first place. This is done by electronically or
spiritual means. We will save the spiritual means for other areas of our site. Here we will concentrate on the mechanical means of finding a spirit and
then move on to trying to communicate.
Here is a list of the tools we and others like us use in a ghost hunt
or paranormal investigation:
1. EMF Detector - A unit that measures electro magnetic
energy possible given off by spirits. This unit also works well in finding
bad wiring.
2. Temperature Gauge - Used to check for fluctuations in
temperature. A sudden drop in temperature may signal a spiritual presence.
It is believed that spirit incarnations effect the air around them causing
changes to air density and temperature.
3. Geiger Counters - This is for measuring radiation. Not very
useful alone but when used along with the EMF detector and
a temperature gauge it may be a helpful tool. Spirits may give off traces
of radiation, so it is important to note any fluctuations in levels.
4. Photography - Both 35 mm and Digital cameras are used
to photograph hauntings. "Orbs" tend to be the most controversial photos
taken, but recent advancements in both Digital and 35 mm cameras have
cut down on the "Orb" factor.
5. EVP (Electronic Voice Phenomena) - The ability to record
the voices of deceased people. Any audio recording qualifies, cassette,
CD, Minidisk, Radio, Static.
6. Video - VHS, 8 mm, Digital & Infrared. Trying to
capture spirits on video.

. Compass
- Useful when used along side other ghost hunting gear. Sudden spinning
or over active motion may pick up signs of paranormal activity similar
to an EMF detector.
There are many other tools investigators can use
to assist them with searching for spirits. The next question is what to do if you feel you have detected something. How to communicate with it.
If you have a minister as part of your team then you are
in luck. If not, it is always recommended seeking out a member of the
Clergy, Minister or any other religious leader that can help the spirit
advance to the realm they belong in. Spirits do not always realize they
have passed. Some may have unfinished business. These situations may be more likely after the case of a sudden death.
Contacting the spirit involves prayer and guidance. A spirit will usually only react
to the religion it followed in life, this is why it it so important to research
who the spirit may be.
Sometimes a spirit refuses to leave no matter who
tries to remove it. If you don't mind living in a haunted house then in
time you will adapt to having a spirit dwelling within your home. Others
who mind or others who experience hostility or poltergeist type activity
sometime have to move out of a home to end a haunting.
Remember to rule
out Psychokinesis as the reason you
believe your home is haunted before moving out.
Even hostile hauntings
always end one way or another. Spirits usually avoid live people. On rare occasions a spirit may physically interact with a person. When this happens
the individual's psychological may be a factor. Some people subconsciously
manifest various physical sensations. A person's history is extremely
important when dealing with this type of haunting.
When trying
to contact the spirit world, there may be no right or wrong way. We must
continue our research together until Parapsychology
becomes an acceptable Science and we have the evidence and ability to communicate
with those who have passed.
